Traditionally marketed as the safest of products for mother and children, silica-based talcum powder has been linked to serious cancers and illnesses. Manufacturer Johnson & Johnson as of mid-2018 was facing more than 9,000 lawsuits alleging talc caused cancers in women using Baby Powder and Shower to Shower.
In July 2018, a jury in Missouri ordered Johnson & Johnson to pay $4.69 billion to 22 women who alleged talcum powder products contaminated with asbestos led to their developing ovarian cancer. In 2017, a California jury awarded a 62 year old woman $417 million including $347 million in punitive damages (later overturned) over failing to warn consumers of the cancer risks in using baby powder.
Courts have also ordered new trials in other cases with large awards to talc users who developed cancer.
Magnesium silicate and asbestos in talcum powder has been linked to ovarian cancer in thousands of women.
Women who have used talcum powder have developed cancer due to absorption of silica and asbestos in ovarian tissue, which results in irritations and inflammation that victims say leads to cancer.
Numerous medical studies have documented the harmful effects of talcum powder for decades. Contact The Bryant Law Center today for a free review of your questions and concerns about talcum powder and illnesses including ovarian or uterine cancers. We continue to accept new talc cases.
