FRANKFORT, Ky. — Gov. Steve Beshear on Friday appointed former editor of The Courier-Journal David Hawpe to the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees and Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lucas to the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. Bryant Law Center President Mark Bryant was appointed last year by Gov. Beshear as a UK trustee.

The two were among many important appointments announced by the Governor’s Office late Friday. Here are the key details of the news release for UK:

Beshear made three appointments of new members to terms ending June 30, 2019. The new appointees are:

Hawpe, of Louisville, appointed to replace Billy Joe Miles whose term on the board has expired.

Angela L. Edwards, a Louisville attorney with Dinsmore & Shohl, to replace Pamela R. May.

James H. Booth, an Inez coal operator, appointed to the UK board replacing Charles Sachatello, whose term has expired.
