An Illinois physician, ordered to share an $800,000 insurance payment from a 2001 car accident that took his son’s life with two other passengers in his son’s car, has finally paid after a lengthy court battle. Enraged, Dr. Roger Herrin this week paid part of the settlement with a truckload of bagged quarters dropped off at two law firms in Marion, Ill. The money came from an under insured motorist’s pool claim that originally went to Herrin. But an appellate court directed that Herrin pay $500,000 of that to the two other passengers.
