Saudi Arabia has put its Islamic foot down on mothers giving western names to their children. The kingdom on Feb. 17 announced it had banned 50 names as blasphemous and western. Abdul and Abdullah still pass muster. But too bad if you wanted to use the names Elaine; Linda, Lauren and 47 more, you will have to chose an approved alternate. The other restriction: a given name cannot imply you are royalty or are a prophet. Read more in The Telegraph.
