Purple Toad Winery originally started out as a hobby for retired couple June and Allen Dossey. After a trip to Napa Valley in the late 90’s the pair became enamored with all things related to wine. With an unused golf range on their property, June and Allen planted 2500 vines and thus began their journey to owning the state’s largest and most awarded winning winery in the state of Kentucky.
Since opening in 2009, the Dossey family has continually been overwhelmed by the success of their winery. Purple Toad has won multiple awards at the The Kentucky Commonwealth Commercial Wine Competition, Wines of the South Regional Wine Competition, Kentucky Derby Wine Competition, Finger Lakes Wine Competition and the Indy International Wine Competition.
A few of their most popular wines are Black and Bruised, Paducah Harbor, and Black Peach.
Stop by Purple Toad Winery and taste their newest wines, enjoy their outdoor patios and take a few bottles home with you! Don’t forget to also stop by the Whitehaven Welcome Center on your way out!
